Sophia “Sophie” Irakoze
Tall (5’11’), shoulder length, very curly brown hair, olive skin, angular features, high cheekbones, full lips, freckles across nose and cheeks, green/gold “cat-like” eyes, very athletic, introvert, stutters or rapid fire questions when she’s nervous, hates attention. She is mighty but new to her gifts, a reluctant hero/savior. Her parents disappeared when she was twelve, and she has lived in foster care with her guardian, Aunt Jo, and her foster sister Jenny.
Josephine “Aunt Jo” Laurent
Sophie’s foster mother who understands tragedy as she lost her family in a car accident. Her husband and two daughters were killed, and she was left with a permanent limp. She uses a cane to get around. She became a foster parent after realizing she had a role to play in the lives of other girls.
Jennifer “Jenny” Marie Murray
Sophie’s foster sister, she’s tiny, petite, curvy with red hair and green eyes. She’s very social, loves people, and is generally a very happy person.
Gia Moretti
One of Sophie’s two best friends. She’s a quintessential Italian Catholic from a large family. She’s small with dark hair and eyes. Her four siblings drive her crazy but the family is very close knit and loving.
Scott “Digger” Miller
Sophie’s other best friend. He’s sweet, and intelligent, but also tall and gangly, and more importantly, he’s currently homeless. He got his nickname as a child from his tendency to dig up anything he could find especially bugs and interesting rocks.
Joel
The Angel assigned to train Sophie. He has his work cut out for him, as trainer to a young Viator. Beautiful man with curly short brown hair, kind brown eyes, and a dimple in his chin.
Tiffany
The leader of the school mean girls, and Sophie’s nemesis. She’s got the “California Girl” look with long blonde hair and an athletic build. She is a cheer leader, gymnast, and star of the track team.
Jeff Nelson
The co-leader of the “Fabulous Five” – a group of guys who have decided to make a game of how many girls they can score before they graduate high school. He’s targeted Sophie as the big prize.
LeLand Jones
The school football star, he’s a huge mountain of a guy and becomes good friends with Sophie. They connect through their love of sports and their dedication to excel.
Damian
Lucifer’s General and leader of the Malum. He is seeking Sophie and those like her. He has evil intent and will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.
Milt
Sophie’s new friend, he is a soul who chose to live in the Garden. He joins Sophie and her friends in their quest.
Bryan Ybarra
Fellow Viator, he joins Sophie and the team to fight the Malum.
Janice
Digger’s Aunt, who is missing, leaving Digger to fend for himself.
Old Ones
the missing Viatores, including Sophie’s parents, these are the Defenders who may have been killed or captured by the Malum. The loss of this group has put humanity in danger.
Father Charlie
The retired priest who provides aide to Sophie and her friends.
